These poems of summer speak of abundance, fertility, youth, carefree fun and so much more. I was transported by each one into a moment of time.
One of my favorites, Reverence, by Julie Cadwallader-Staub is so lovely, warm and safe. A very sweet poem speaking of summer evenings spent chasing fireflies and the heartwarming discovery that one small body can shine so bright. I absolutely loved it.
Another favorite, The Rope Swing, by Marcia Meara is a real joy. A peek into the imaginative mind of a ten year old boy, this poem's imagery allowed me to feel his exuberant energy, the cold water, bubbles, breathlessness... and his tireless delight in a cool green pond and an old rope swing.
This book is full of summer delights and makes a great addition to my library.
It's as wonderful as a summer's day.
Beautiful and interesting poetry and prose. Definitely an eclectic mixture, but very enjoyable. A very good buy for the money.
I loved it. When you get an excellent editor with superb taste that can pick from the cream of today and yesterday, this is the results.
The title of this review says it all. Whatever the season, Silver Birch produces an anthology as eye-pleasing as it is eclectic. Everyone should find something at such verbal champagne brunches to suit their taste.
